Digital Downloads Recently Viewed Items enables you to present your guests the products they’ve earlier seen on your page as they navigate around your site, such as Amazon does. In addition, it is helpful for increasing your sales due to the fact that it shows your clients the items in which they are interested in the most. Moreover, you can present these products on single product site, on the checkout page or by using the included widget in any of your widget places.

Another thing is that you can display the recently viewed products in the following ways:

On individual product page

The plugin comes with the default setting of displaying recently viewed products on single download pages. You can also choose to display a personalized heading above the item to increase conversions.

On the checkout page

Here the recently viewed items includ an Add to Cart button, thus improving the customer checkout experience. They can choose to add a new product in the cart without leaving the checkout page.

Utilizing the integrated widget.

You can display the recently viewed products in any area that supports a widget. It’s easy to use because you just simply add it to widget area, adjusting the settings for it afterwards.

Single Download Pages

Automatically, you can see recently viewed products on single download pages. Extension’s configurations can modify this. You can find these options if you go to Downloads > Settings > Extensions. There are two options linked to single download website, that customize the template even more:

First, Disable Display on Single Download Pages – turns off the programmed display of recently viewed items.

Secondly, Single Download Heading Text – permits you to supply a customized proceeding over the recently seen products.

Customization And Developer Information

By default, the extension is displaying three recently viewed items on single download pages and on the checkout page, thus maintaining things clean and user friendly. If you would like to modify that number, or otherwise make customizations to the structure, you can override the templates used by the extension.

Customizing Templates

To personalize the templates, create a folder in your active theme called edd_templates. Duplicate the desired template from the templates folder of the extension into your edd_templates folder, afterwards write all your customizations there.

Customizing Image Sizes 

There are two methods to change the dimension of the images displayed, either by changing the template using the Customizing Templates feature, or by filtering the size using the available filters inside the templates.
